The Colorado City Fire Department was established in 1883 and is a combination department serving Colorado City and a majority of Mitchell County. The department has 3 full time and two part time firefighters and is supported by 28 volunteers who give their time selflessly to serve the community. The FD has one main station and one sub-station housing 3 pumper's, 2 tankers, several brush trucks and various other support vehicles. The department puts a strong emphasis on training, both in house and by regularly sending firefighters to various area schools and the Texas A&M Municipal School in July.
